Opening Ceremony Celebrates Cornwall's Business Successes
Continental Underfloor & George Eustice MP Rejoice Cornwall’s Economic Strengths
Cornwall’s business successes and commitment to regional economic and sustainable development has been celebrated during an opening ceremony at the Pool Innovation Centre on the 2nd March. Hosted by Continental Underfloor and attended by many prominent guests, including George Eustice MP, the gathering marked the opening of Continental Underfloor’s second office in Cornwall, and acknowledged the regions success in retaining a wealth of promising and ambitious businesses.
In a speech during the event, which was also attended by guests including the Mayor of Redruth, the Chairman of CPR Regeneration, and Thelma Sorenson OBE, Continental’s Chairman Chris Ingram acknowledged the support the company has received from various networks within the County:
“The excellent partnerships and networks within Cornwall meant that we had support from the very outset of our expansion plans. We were initially looking to expand outside of the County, but we soon recognised that the level of commitment, opportunity and ambition shown to us by the Cornwall Development Company, Superfast Broadband and CPR Regeneration, to name but a few, far outweighed the attraction to move anywhere else in the UK.”
During his speech Chris Ingram also revealed a significant private sector initiative to support ‘kitchen table entrepreneurs’ with the development of a Bude Innovation Centre, and the commencement of a feasibility study for manufacturing underfloor heating system components in the CPR area.
Whilst addressing the event, George Eustice MP praised the significance of Continental choosing to expand within Cornwall, and acknowledged the impressive success of the Pool Innovation Centre in its relative infancy, and the demonstrable talent and skills available within Cornwall.
Superfast Broadband and leading Cornish renewable businesses Kensa Engineering, Capture Energy, Independent Energy, and Wendron Stoves also exhibited at the event, and provided free advice to guests and members of the general public, during an Energy Efficiency One-Stop-Shop that followed Continental’s official opening ceremony.
