Continal’s Technical Sales Advisers were contacted by a self-builder who wanted to install underfloor heating (UFH) in a detached property that was undergoing a complete renovation.
The property was originally built in 1995, meaning it was already quite well insulated, but didn’t have the high ceilings often found in older-style period properties. As the existing slab in the property was being kept, our customer needed to fit an overfloor UFH system that would allow him to enjoy the luxury of UFH while minimising any additional build-up height.
After discussing all the options, we recommended a system using our SlimFix® and TileFix® products, which have an exceptionally low profile and are ideal for both renovation and newbuild products. They would also enable our customer to use multiple floor coverings on the same floor level, something he was keen to do to give him maximum flexibility when choosing the décor in the property.
SlimFix® is a low-profile system with built-in return panels that make installation quick and easy. It features a high-compressive strength composite panel and allows wood and laminate floors to be laid directly on top. Carpets and vinyls can also be used if combined with a suitable cover board.
Our unique TileFix® system has a low profile of just 18mm and is the only system that can be tiled directly onto using a standard tile adhesive. The system can accept ceramic, porcelain, marble and stone tiles using a suitable tile adhesive, while the TileFix® panels provide pre-prepared pipe routing for return loops and distribution.
As our customer was a self-builder who would be installing the system himself, he was keen to work with a supplier who would be able to offer him all the support he needed throughout the duration of the project.
“I was determined to install the underfloor heating myself, but it’s not an area I am an expert in, so I wanted to work with a supplier who would be on hand to offer technical support whenever I had a question. Having my Continal Technical Sales Adviser at the end of the phone, as well as all the installation guides and YouTube videos I could look at whenever I was unsure gave me all the confidence that I needed.”
At Continal Underfloor Heating, we offer a wealth of technical support as standard including installation guides, videos and full CAD drawings, so that our customers have everything they need to get the installation right first time. All our customers are assigned a single point of contact at the start of the project, so they can pick up the phone at any time and speak to someone who already knows all the details of their project and can give them exactly the right advice.
