Products: therM® and HeatMax™ floor probe
Continental’s advisers always love a challenge, and this project certainly got them thinking... The customer was building a designer house overlooking the English Channel. He wanted to go for full glazing throughout on the south elevation of the building. This can bring up many issues due to high solar gain and high heat loss within the glazed areas, so he needed something that could manage both scenarios.
The client wanted to make the most of the wonderful views so had created a single storey house with lots of glazing, and a beautiful yoga room overlooking the sea (why wouldn’t you?).
The key for this project was in the controls. With the right controls, they would be able to have the best of both worlds. The client also wanted to incorporate the latest app-controlled thermostats, so they could control their heating with their 4G tablet from anywhere in the house – or country.
We recommended our latest generation of therM thermostats. This model allows you to have up to 32 individually-controlled zones on one therM hub allowing for effortless heating control. Along with this, we paired each thermostat with its own HeatMax™ remote floor probe. This meant that we could regulate the heating and temperature of the floor more efficiently, so that the sunlight didn’t affect the thermostats.
Sunlight doesn’t have to affect the thermostat. Our client in this case didn’t believe that this was possible, and so was delighted with the result.
With smart controls and floor probes, the client had a system that would work in all conditions, from cold and sunny winter days to wet spring afternoons. The floor probes worked perfectly in unison with the therM thermostats and provided live feedback to the client’s tablet for super-easy control.
This system, along with Continental’s Underfloor heating system, comprising our AluPlas® pipe for ease of installation and single-piece manifolds, “went down a dream”.
