More and more customers are increasing their property footprint and extending their homes. This can cause potential issues with different floor constructions, which means a combination of underfloor heating installations.
Our client in Bristol was installing a new kitchen/dining extension with a screed-over-insulation floor construction. They also wanted underfloor heating in the lounge and hallway in the existing part of the house. In here, the floor construction was joists at 400mm c/c throughout. We needed to pair up these two floors.
The solution
Mixing floor constructions can sometimes be problematic. On this occasion, the different floor constructions were in separate rooms, which made it a bit easier.
The adviser suggested using Continal’s SUPERflex™ pipe, with its superior bend radius and easy installation; a good choice, as it would work in harmony with different floor constructions. With the joisted floor, the client opted for our AluPlate™ system, which is designed for fast and efficient installation without sacrificing performance. Paired with Continal’s SUPERflex™ pipe, its flexibility made it simple to install.
Moving on to the new extension, our adviser suggested using Continal® SpeedTrak™, with its pre-set spacings to make measuring out easy. The SUPERflex™ pipe simply clicks in to each run of rail without any other fixing requirements.
Installing underfloor heating in buildings with varying floor constructions doesn’t have to be difficult. You can use similar products over the different floors to make it as stress-free as possible.
