Newbuild properties are typically built to extremely tight timeframes, with multiple trades working around each other within the same space to get the building finished on time and, just as importantly, within budget.
The installers and housebuilders involved in these projects must source materials and systems quickly, or they risk delaying the entire project, with other trades potentially having to put their own work on hold until certain sections of the building are finished.
This was the case with a recent newbuild property in Hitchin, where an underfloor heating (UFH) system had to be sourced and fitted within a few days to keep the project on schedule.
The installer approached Continal Underfloor Heating with plans for a 511m2 UFH system for the property. They needed a full quote for the system to be generated without delay, so they could proceed with the order without holding up work on the rest of the project.
Using Continal’s Fast-Track service, Technical Expert Harry King was able to create the system quote and return it to PJG Electrical the same day. Thanks to Continal’s competitive prices, the engineer was able to confirm they were happy with the quote almost instantly, and the order was processed and scheduled for quick delivery.
We recommended that the engineer fit our AluPlas®-16 pipes, using the SpeedTrak® system to secure the pipes into place quickly and speed up the installation process itself.
AluPlas® pipes are extremely thermally efficient and available in 100m, 150m and 200m coil lengths, making them suitable for all 16mm fitting systems. This five-layer pipe includes an aluminium layer to ensure excellent strength and a 100% oxygen barrier, so it is flexible enough to bend into the desired shape across the floor, but strong enough to hold its shape once in place.
The SpeedTrak® system comprises strips of plastic with a self-adhesive backing that will bond to most floor surfaces. Measuring 1m in length, they have 5cm cups formed into the plastic to hold the pipework securely at regular intervals. The pipe is then slotted into these cups, holding them straight and making it easy to keep the pipes straight and in exactly the right place to ensure the most efficient heat outputs across the floor area.
