A client was installing some new shepherds’ huts at a holiday complex. Equipped with all mod cons including a private hot tub, these huts make idyllic holiday homes. They’re becoming an increasingly popular option for couples visiting Cornwall who are looking for something a little bit different.
The solution
It’s not like you could put a weighty screed in these huts, and you certainly wouldn’t have time to let it dry, so we needed to find a low-profile, dry underfloor heating system.
TileFix®-18 was absolutely perfect for this project. Luckily, the hut floors were all going to be tiled (for easy housekeeping), and tiled floors can be laid directly onto the TileFix®-18 panels. They are even pre-fitted with a decoupling membrane; and at only 18mm thick, don’t have much of an impact on the floor height.

The result
It was a very fast and easy installation – and as there were a lot of huts, speed and simplicity are essential.
The system has topped off with an app-controlled thermostat, allowing the huts’ underfloor heating to be controlled remotely. The huts can be warm and ready for the guests (whatever time they arrive), without the housekeeping team having to make an additional journey.
